22) De Fútbol y cine, ¿hay buenas películas que tengan el
fútbol como tema central en sus guiones?
Según dicen los cineastas no hay buenas películas de
fútbol. Hay buenas películas de boxeo, pero de fútbol, en el mundo del cine, es
difícil encontrar buenos trabajos realizados. Se dice que es complejo “captar”
la pasión y la emoción que se vive en un partido de fútbol en directo.
Jean Cocteau, guionista, actor y novelista francés,
incluyó el fútbol entre sus falsos dioses: los otros eran las máquinas y Nueva
York.
Recuerdo ahora “Evasión o Victoria” que no es
precisamente uno de los mejores filmes de John Houston.
Quentin Tarantino ha prometido realizar un film de
fútbol, pero el problema al parecer es que los buenos actores son malos
futbolistas y los buenos futbolistas son malos actores.
Alfredo Di Stéfano ha participado, como actor, en algunas
películas pero hablando con Don Alfredo, él mismo nos dijo que fútbol y cine no
combinan bien.
Una de las versiones que Berlanga barajó como final de la
película “Bienvenido Mister Marshall” era un partido de fútbol entre los
lugareños de Villar del Río contra los vecinos de Villar del campo. Finalmente lo descartó.

22) About football and cinema,
are there any good movies which have football as a central plot in their
scripts?
According the filmmakers there
are no good movies about football. There are good boxing movies, but football
in the world of cinema, it is hard to find any good work done. It has been said
that the passion and excitement which exists in a live football game is
difficult to ¨capture¨ in a film.
Jean Cocteau, writer, actor and French novelist,
included football among their false gods: the others were machines and New
York.
I remember "Evasion or
Victory" which is not exactly one of the best films by John Houston.
Quentin Tarantino has promised to
make a film about football, but the problem appears to be that good actors are
bad players and good players are bad actors.
Alfredo Di Stefano has
participated as an actor in some films but talking to Don Alfredo, he told us
that football and movies do not combine well.
One version that Berlanga
considered as the ending of the film "Welcome Mister Marshall" was a
football match between the locals, Villar del Río against Villar Camp’s
