11) ¿QUÉ OPINA DE LA PRENSA DEPORTIVA? / WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE SPORTS NEWSPAPERS?

11) What is your opinion about the sports newspapers?

I have understood that the newspapers with the largest circulation and readership in our country are sports newspapers, with different sections and specialized personnel who in recent years have studied the sports lexicon, the formation of neologisms, and the creation of terms to name new realities (eg goat referring to the bike which is used in the time trial stages).

The originality, technology, the surprise and excitement which is awaked in each sporting event, the magic of the story, the ephemeral of the result, the celebration of the deeds, the epic of  the effort which is prized, all those things which do the journalist story  an important nerve center to be studied.

It is not a causality that one of the first promoters of football in England was a sportswriter, Charles Alcock, who besides spreading it practiced it and formed part of the FA. I have compiled some data from professors and journalism researchers such as: Grana Manuel Gonzalez, Jesus Castanon Rodriguez, Julio Bernardez, Julian Alfredo García Candau and Relaño among others who show us that: The passion of this sport, like all human passion, is produced by what the words say themselves.

An example of this is the comment referred by Clara Isabel France in 1999 in an interview which can be summarized thus: "In 1986, a known football striker played the World Cup´s final in the Azteca´s Stadium against Germany. He scored the second goal for the team and they won the final in the last minute. He thought he would not be able to deal with his emotions until he started running around the football field, yelling, jumping, laughing and joining the happiness of the team. A few months later, running through a park, he began to listen to the recording which had been sent to him about the narration of his goal. His joy broke into an uncontrollable and disconsolate crying. Since then Jorge Valdano, has always said that the sport can not survive without the help of the word”

The sports field is a celebration of intelligence, a show of emotions and elegance, a crossing of creative energies which remakes an imaginary world which allows people to transform the hostile reality in  a chance to enjoy until being rediscovered with the illusion.

What we rescue from the sports journalism specialists, we have to mark that poetry is "a gun loaded of future “this is exactly what the poet Gabriel Celaya left written..
Not by chance in Football Stories, we have started noting the importance of poetry as a  knowledge instrument to write the truth of people, because we know that the information is always political, but because of this it is not necessarily true.(To be continued…)

10) HAY UN TEMA QUE PREOCUPA MUCHO: LA VIOLENCIA EN LOS CAMPOS DE FÚTBOL Y LOS ALREDEDORES. / THERE IS AN ISSUE OF GREAT CONCERN: VIOLENCE IN FOOTBALL FIELDS AND THE SURROUNDINGS.

10) There is an issue of great concern: violence in football fields and the surroundings.

Let’s remember the incident in the second leg of His Majesty the King’s Cup between Betis and Seville at Villamarín Benito’s stadium. It was a Match which the referee had to stop the game due to objects which were thrown into the football field and one of it hit the Seville’s coach who collapsed on the ground. What do you think about this type of event? And what can we do what steps to take?
Interviewing Juande Ramos (Seville’s coach in that qualifying round) said: "we are all responsible."

One thing I want to make clear: football does not generate violence. Some spectators have the violence inside themselves from the moment they leave their homes or people who are already angry with any family member or boss or worried from their jobs or being poisoned by the environment. Violence also influences by managers doing some statements, even they sometimes seem as obsessed fans who despise their neighbors, some idolized players, and media increasing headlines with grandiloquent phrases. Aggressive people go to the matches but they also go to the theatre, they have jobs so football does not generate violence which means everybody is responsible. The intolerance was the evil of the XX century; no one tolerated anybody and so far in the current XXI century.

Football is a beautiful dance, a cartoon come true, fantasy in action, tactics and strategy within the limits of the game, the possibility to compete: that the greatest can lose without being humiliated and the smallest can win again and to continue growing. Football is poetry, articulating the impossible on a green blanket, bodies in the stands as a wave in unison rotating around the ball, the club's colors painted on their faces, fleeting beauty but with eternal score, a human production and the human voice shouting: goal.(To be continued…)

9) ¿ENTONCES SE PUEDE HABLAR DE FÚTBOL Y POLÍTICA? / THEN, CAN WE SPEAK ABOUT FOOTBALL AND POLITIC?

9) Then, can we speak about football and politic?

Almost every president of a country says that they are fans of a team or about football in general. It looks to be a necessity in their speeches. So for example we know that: Tony Blair is a supporter of Newcastle , at the beginning Vladimir Putin said that he was a supporter of the Zenith of Petersburg and when he was remembered that the CSKA is a club with a lot of tradition, he quickly answered: I am a supporter of all Russian clubs .
About Berlusconi we all know his dedication to Milan. José Sócrates is fan of Benfica and he is visiting assiduously Da Luz’s stadium. José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is supporter of Barcelona and is fan of Ponferradina .And it is very frequently to see the Brazilian’s President, Lula Da Silva encouraging the Corinthians.
To the contrary it is very rare that football players talk about politics. (To be continued…)

8) ¿EL FÚTBOL QUE REPRESENTA CULTURAL Y SOCIALMENTE? / WHAT DOES FOOTBALL REPRESENT CULTURALLY AND SOCIALLY?

8) What does football represent culturally and socially?

Reading the broadcast media, we can see that the best seller newspaper in Spain is a sports newspaper and all of its pages more than 60% are about football. Almost everyone is involved in football. The owner of a luxury car dealership, supervising his company, was amazed saying that on Mondays there were sold more cars if the team of the city where the headquarters were of the different dealership had won, if not sales resented all week. All doctors on call can attest it: when there is a football match, the number of emergencies is significantly lower than when there is another televised event.

We can speak about football from different ideologies and points of view, as journalistic, mythological, sociological, philosophical, business, treating the players sometimes as heroes, the fans in a religious way, highlighting as feats and myths sport events which were epic in its results, leaving in the memory of all unforgettable memories.

I wonder if football besides being a sport, a game or a business, would not  be, due to the interest which it arouse, a group and cultural paradigm: a place from where you can study any social phenomenon, a great little laboratory which reproduce each game (only in Spain a million games are played a year and there are 700,000 federated) any phenomenon to study, some examples are: amending labor laws, different economic movements, health criteria, policies, immigration, racism, corporate businesses, educational surveys ...

So any political facet, sporting, cultural, health, economic, social, human can be represented in football, serving as a research, from which to collect data, perform readings of reality and the necessary corrections, which can be exported to other social areas.

Football is a group and culture paradigm, in this sense, it can be effectively and microorganism easily reproducible of any study about groups, we know that groups are known as producing machines which produce people who have desires. What is possible for a human, it is possible in humanity, for the person who is able to build it. (To be continued…)
