42) Are the
football players superstitious, have prejudices or fixations that can alter
their athletic productivity?
I remember phrases from some athletes such as :
"I just collapsed in the most important game of my life when I was called
by the National Team" or "whenever I compete in the Olympics
something happens to me" or "when I participate outdoors everything
goes well, but competing indoors I do not perform as much as I can
"or" when I used to play for my country I never got injured , "" this morning when I
left my home I thought that I would get hurt
"," just when my wife was about giving a birth... at least
now, I would be able to accompany her "or" now that we have changed
coaches and I could be a principal¨.
In your question it is contemplated the answer. We
have enumerated a number of everyday situations, relatively frequents that all
directors and coaches have had in their sporting clubs
There are cases in the history of sport clear and
concrete, example: a goalie of
international football who participates in four World Championships, in three
of them as a substitute and when he is responsible to be titular, in that
Championship, a perfume bottle is ran from his hand and fell over his foot, it
happens a gash of tendons and because of this a injury that impeded him to participate
in the World Championship, where he would play as titular..
Another example and I bring it because they are cases
published in every media: a present famous tennis player who in the interviews
only speaks about his sport and the preparation that he performs and he never
speaks about his private life. The day before playing for the first time, the
final of the most prestigious tournament that was held on grass (which was
not his favourite surface), it appeared
published in press, a request to his family for them to go to watch him, because he did not know when
was going to reach to a final like this again. Beyond that some relatives
travelled or not, since we can not make responsible to the family for this, he
lost the final tournament and when he was back to his Islam he had a slight
mishap with his car against a façade where a relative lived. Coach who can not
see the yellow colour in his team, player who changes his boots if he does not
score with them…
I respond to your question. Yes, all of us have
prejudices, fixations, superstitions, as all of us dream or we are able to
laugh or to lie. And these prejudices are a effect from the ideology that we
inherit and we keep afterward. For being inhabiting in the language (for being individual speakers) in the
history of civilization has been built: a magical-animistic thought, a religious thought, a scientific
thought and a psychoanalytic thought, therefore , superstitions, prejudices, manias and fears correspond to phases or
times that are constitutive of the human
thought. (To be continued…)
